Hamilton Days 25-31

(Mandatory Post) Recap on #HOPTeamHamiltob

Hamilton • Mustang/Paint Cross • 4/5yr

Hamilton has grown a lot since he’s been with me. He’s “grown up” in a sense. He’s matured, and although there is still some work to be done, he’s coming along great!

I believe Hamilton can go a multitude of different ways. I think Hamilton could be a great trail horse. He would also be a good size of a big pony/small horse for a child to grow with. Hamilton would be a good 4-h horse for speed/contesting events. He would be a fantastic reining horse if finished out for it. Hamilton could be a dressage horse, as he carries himself high. I also believe Hamilton could turn into a nice little rope horse.

Hamilton has learned and is learning the following:

  • Smooth transitions of walk, trot, canter

  • Desensitization with animals, things like tarps, beach balls, bells, trains, and much more! (The video shows some more desensitizing!)

  • Laying down and allowing the dog and I to climb all over him

  • Baby steps of liberty

  • Flying lead changes

  • Pivoting on both hind and front ends

  • Herding sheep

  • Ground tying

  • Cross tying

  • Being tied to a hitching post

  • Loading in the trailer

  • Round penning

  • Lunging

  • Trail riding

  • Being ponied off of another horse

  • Patience

I hope to continue this list and to keep it growing with him. I can’t wait to see who the lucky person/family is who gets this boy. He can go a lot of different ways, just needs pointed in the right direction!

Message me if you have any questions, want to know how you could have the possibility of adopting him, or if you’d like to sponsor him!
