Hamilton Days 18-24

Flying lead changes?! That’s right. Hamilton can do flying lead changes!

It has been a while since I’ve had time to update on Hamilton! We have been working on a lot, which is why I have a longer video today!

Hamilton and I have been working on slow work. We have been working on basic transitions of walk, trot, and loping, turning on his back and front, side passing, pulling a log, trail riding and just tried flying lead changes! He has also been getting ponied around the farm and getting really good at it, as well as being familiar with his surroundings!

Hamilton needs a lot of work to be able to get his transitions smooth, right now he is really choppy. It is hard for him to get on the right lead so in the video you will notice I tip his head to the outside when asking him to lope. He has slowly gotten better with turning on his hind and front end. In the video you will see he has a small fit and rears because he gets frustrated in trying to understand what I am asking. He is slowly understanding side passing but is definitely taking him a while! His flying lead changes are really fast right now but with time and him understanding what I’m asking we will be able to slow down to a more collected lead change. We also did one barrel pattern and he could defiantly be a slick little barrel horse!

Hamilton has been starting to get buddy sour with the rope horse, so he will start getting turned out by himself for a while. He isn’t bad when he goes out for a ride but being in a pasture alone doesn’t make him happy.

Hamilton has started to gain weight and is starting to look really nice as well! Hamilton will be up for adoption in August! Let me know if you’re interested and I can help you go through the acception process!
